The initial screening can be completed in-person, over the phone, or online. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to complete. If you'd like to complete the initial screening, please email donors@swmilkbank.org or by clicking here.
The application asks many questions similar to those found in the initial screening, but goes more in depth. We typically have potential donors complete the application online, but we also have paper copies available if you prefer.
After your application has been submitted and reviewed, our staff will request a signature from the provider you listed on your application. You don't have to do anything for this step, but there will be a short wait after your application has been submitted and the next step you need to complete.
As a part of the application process, our donors have their blood tested for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV I/II, HTLV I/II, and syphilis. These tests are completed at no cost to the donors, and instructions are sent via email after the provider release is signed and returned by your provider.
About 3 to 4 business days after you visit the lab, you will be ready to donate. Bereaved donors have no minimum donation commitment. It is our privilege to help dispense your milk in honor of the infant you have lost, and we will accept any amount that you chose to donate.
